Minister of Culture and Sports Kejela Merdassa said we should use our religious and cultural resources for good.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Kejela Merdassa, conveyed a congratulatory message at the Janmeda Baptism Ceremony.
He said Ethiopia is a country with many different nationalities, ancient religions and developed cultural values.
He said that these religious institutions and cultural values have played an important role in uniting the community and living together for centuries.
Our cultural values are a symbol of peace and love; “Religion has never been a fundamental difference in this country,” he said.
He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.
Kejela conveyed the message that peace and reconciliation should be strengthened in all parts of the country using traditional conflict resolution methods that play an important role in peace and equality.
“I urge you, the young people of tomorrow, to put into practice what you are learning. It is a sacred purpose and practice by both the Creator and man.”
“We are at a critical juncture where we need to take our country on the path to better development and peace,” he said.
He stressed the need to apply the traditional values of solidarity inherited from our forefathers by remembering and supporting those who have suffered in the midst of the celebration.
