106 Cities: 4G Mobile Network

Ambo: Sebeta, Burayu, Holeta and Woliso are the beneficiaries of the service. The company plans to use 103 cities to use 4G mobile network in the 2013 Ethiopian budget year.

According to Frehiwot Tamiru, CEO of the company, despite the efforts made to launch 4G mobile network service in 103 planned cities last budget year, it was possible to launch 4G in 68 towns due to various problems.

He said a total of 106 cities, including those that did not benefit from the plan in the previous budget year, will be able to use 4G network in the 2014 Ethiopian budget year.

It is known that 71 more cities are planned to use 4G mobile network in the 2014 fiscal year. 1,391 mobile stations will be accessible through this service.

There are 334,000 customers in the Central West Region, where the service was launched today, and 125,000 are data users.

It is said that 52,000 customers have a handset capable of using the 4G LTE network. Today, 47 of the 321 mobile sites in the region are using the 4G LTE Advanced Network.
