Ethiopian Electric Power Corporate Planning Executive Director, Andualem Sia, said plans are underway to build 71 power generation projects in the next 10 years.

He said $ 40 billion is needed to build projects.

According to Andualem, the funds are expected to be financed by private and public partnerships, the African Development Bank, the World Bank, other development partners and lenders, the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation and the Ethiopian government.

Among the projects planned to be built in the next 10 years are 16 water, 24 wind, 17 steam and 14 solar power projects, he said.

According to Andualem, a private-public partnership strategy is currently being developed as the planned power projects cannot be achieved by the government alone.

According to Andualem, the projects to be built first and the ones that can be built at low cost will be identified.

According to the directive, two solar power projects will be built by Saudi Arabian Power Company, which is in the process of being developed by private developers and private and public partners.

According to Andualem, negotiations are underway with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build the Aisha 1 wind farm project.
