In just one month, more than 12,000 drivers were found guilty of violating traffic laws.

The Addis Ababa Transport Bureau announced that action has been taken against 12,976 drivers who violated the transport law in January alone. The bureau is closely monitoring public transport service vehicles.

The bureau said it has taken legal action against overcharging, crossing, overcrowding and other offenses related to transportation. Among the offenses, 4,031 drivers were fined for not crossing the road, 3,939 were charged with overpricing, 163 were charged with over-tariffs and 112 were cut off.

The Addis Ababa Transport Bureau said in a statement to Bisrat Radio that more than 7 million birr has been deposited in the government coffers.

Addis Ababa City Administration officials are currently meeting with the Holy Synod

Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abebe did not attend the Holy Synod meeting.

Representing the city administration, Deputy Mayor Jantar Abay attended the regular Holy Synod meeting.

The Holy Synod called on the mayor of the city to discuss Meskel Square and other current issues.

The Holy Synod is holding talks with city officials today, February 4, on issues related to Meskel Square and other Orthodox churches.

In addition to Jantrar Abay, Mr. Tiratu Beyene, General Manager, Dr. Kena Yadeta, Head of Addis Ababa City Peace and Security Bureau, Teteka Bekele and Alemayehu Ejigu from Addis Ababa Prosperity Party were also present at the meeting.
