Following the decision of the Heads of State and Government to convene this year’s African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, the fraternal partnership was successfully concluded as planned. The Coalition was a fruitful discussion, a decision that was beneficial to our continent, and, above all, a brotherly partnership.

Since true friendship is measured in times of crisis, in the last one year, you have reached the point where Ethiopia is looking for a friend. You have proved your true friendship by standing by others when others run away from us. Ethiopia truly thank you for this.

What unites Africans is not just the fact that we belong to the same continent or to the same world. Historical events make us more connected than our rivers; The problems we face are more similar to the landscape and the climate. We were together in good and evil, We will continue to do so in the future. Our destiny is the same. One wound hurts the other; Feeling we have ‘Run out of gas’ emotionally. The basis of our friendship is not the benefit but the real brotherhood.

Africa’s glory is enhanced by the unity that our forefathers started yesterday, the unity we have today, and the co-operation that will be realized tomorrow; Our voices can be heard on the world stage. There is no doubt that our search for an “African solution to the African problem” will bring us all to the brink of success. We may encounter obstacles along the way, We may find it difficult to resist temptation; But we go hand in hand. The challenge we face today will be a source of strength for our education, for the generations to come.

Many have been pushing for a successful conference. The security forces have done their part to ensure that our guests come safely to their second home in Addis Ababa. The efforts of the Addis Ababa City Administration, the patience and cooperation of the residents of the city, and the efforts of the hotels and service providers to treat the guests in an Ethiopian manner are commendable. The coordination of media professionals to make the conference accessible was effective.
