Investment Commission Commissioner Lelisse Neme is said to have held talks with the US Embassy in Addis Ababa.

Commissioner Lelisse Neme discussed with US Embassy Senior Business Expert Yasui Pie the US free trade opportunities offered to African countries.

He said Ethiopia is taking advantage of this trade opportunity and asked the embassy to help it remain a member.

AGOA is a trade opportunity provided by the United States to 34 countries in sub-Saharan Africa to import their products without tax or quota.

It has been widely reported that the United States may expel Ethiopia from the program in order to exert economic pressure.

Today’s meeting was attended by the US Embassy in Addis Ababa.
