In Addis Ababa, the supply of onions and other agricultural products at affordable prices has continued.
In Addis Ababa, the city administration has been undertaking various activities to prevent the artificial inflation of agricultural and industrial products and to break the chain of brokers.
In order to alleviate the supply and demand of agricultural products as well as related problems, the city administration has entered into agreements with Oromia and other regional farmers to provide onion and other agricultural products directly to the community.
Today, more than 531 quintals of onions have been imported from Arsi Zone of Oromia State to the town through consumer cooperatives.
More than 1,500 quintals of onions and other agricultural products have been distributed to the public in consumer shops, cooperatives and more than 19 selected major streets since last week, according to the town’s cooperative agency.
In the future, other agricultural products will be directly linked to the production cooperatives and will reduce the cost of living.
