The Dire Dawa Police Traffic Control Directorate held a recognition and appreciation program for its members and leaders in 2013.
The program was attended by Dire Dawa Council Speaker Fatuma Mustafa and Deputy Mayor Kedir Johar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of the Traffic Control Directorate, Mr. Shiferaw, said that the Traffic Control Directorate has carried out strong traffic law enforcement activities in the city in 2013. He said five birr has been transferred to the government.
He added that more than 5,000 destructive drivers have been trained and released, adding that they are working with night drivers and we are ready to do better in the new year 2014.
Dire Dawa Police Commissioner Alemu Magra said the traffic control directorate registered the results in 2013. He thanked the directors and members of the directorate for fulfilling their responsibilities.
Traffic police officers and supporting institutions, individuals and organizations who have excelled in the 2013 program were recognized.
Shiner Alemu Magra was awarded the Golden Bracelet Award for his contribution to the establishment of peace in Dire Dawa and the transformation of the institution.
Commissioner Alemu Magra and other cabinet members including Dire Dawa Council Speaker Fatuma Mustafa and Deputy Mayor Kedir Johar were present at the event.
On the eve of the New Year 2014, the management and staff of the Dire Dawa branch of the Federal Transport Authority welcomed the customers who arrived at their premises.
