Ministry of Peace donates irrigation pump generators to Gambella region

Addis Ababa: September 12, 2013 The Ministry of Peace has handed over 42 of the 120 irrigation pump generators planned for Gambella State to the state in the 2013 Ethiopian budget year.

State Minister for Federalism and Pastoral Affairs, Dr. Seyoum Mesfin, said the ministry has provided irrigation pumps generators as development is part of peace and there is a vast potential of natural resources in Gambella region.

He said the pump generators have the potential to create job opportunities for the youth beyond development.

The state minister added that trainings will be provided with the relevant bodies to implement these generators and the ministry will monitor how they are used.

Gambella State Agriculture and Natural Resource Development Bureau Head, Ujulu Luwal, on his part, said the donated agricultural equipment is an important source to accelerate the region’s development.

According to information received from the ministry, the ministry is also grateful for its support to the region.
