Athlete who managed to improve the 10,000-meter dash in two days, Sifen Hassan and Sifen Hassan competed in the 10,000-meter hurdles on the big athletics stage.
This is the second time these athletes have met in a major athletic arena.
Almaz Ayana, who won gold in the 10,000 meters at the Rio Olympics, and current competitor Vivian Cheriot did not compete in the Tokyo Olympics.
Other contenders in the competition are Ethiopians Tsige G. Selama and Tsehai Gemechu, as well as Helen Obiri, a Kenyan with long distance experience.
She finished second in the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Sifen, a native of Ethiopia and a native of the Netherlands, said she is a major competitor in the distance of the Ethiopian Athletics team. Sifen is determined to win gold in the 1500 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
She achieved her goal in the 5,000 meters and passed the 1,500 meters. Sifen, 28, with a lot of experience, set out to make history at the Tokyo Olympics.
On the other hand, this is the first time the 23-year-old has competed in the Olympic Games for her death, but given her current position, there are many who will give her 10,000 meters victory.
At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, 23-year-old Derartu Tulu won gold in the 10,000 meters for her country. Eight years later, she won gold at the same distance at the Sydney Olympics.
The only thing she will not miss this year’s Tokyo Olympics is the support of Derartu Tulu.
“Both children are Ethiopians. As citizens, we look forward to the day. We support the day. However, she is our daughter. She is our proud and beloved child,” said Athlete Derartu Tulu.
