Preparations are underway to plant more than 1 million seedlings in Addis Ababa overnight

Addis Ababa: July 26, 2014 (FBC) Preparations are underway to plant more than 1 million seedlings in Addis Ababa on Sunday.

Addis Ababa City Basin and Green Areas Development and Management Agency announced that preparations are underway to plant more than 1 million seedlings in one day.

The Agency’s Director General, Engineer Zion Teshome, said the green fingerprint transplanting program has been underway in various places since last week.

According to Engineer Zion, more than 1 million seedlings will be planted in one day in Addis Ababa on Sunday, July 10, 2013.

He said the seedlings are already ready for the project, including the digging of seedlings for the project.

According to the Director General of the Press Office of the City Administration, the plan will be attended by senior officials of the federal and city administrations, celebrities, sports families, religious leaders, security forces, youth and various sections of the society.

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has made a profit of over 20.3 billion birr in the 2013 Ethiopian budget year, he said.

The President of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Abe Sano, on his part said the bank has made a huge profit in the current fiscal year.

This is an increase of 36 percent compared to last year.

He said the bank has earned over 81 billion birr in the current budget year.

Currently, the bank has more than 31 million customers.

The total assets of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia have reached 999 billion birr, he said, adding that the bank is operating 56 percent of its services digitally.

The number of branches has increased to 1,700 and the bank has increased its deposits to 735 billion birr.

In the past, the bank has been plagued by short-term financial constraints, but now it has been able to solve the problem, the bank said.

In related news, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has launched a month-long “Haji for All” savings movement starting July 1, 2013.

The President of the Bank, Abe Sano, who launched the savings movement, said the initiative is aimed at encouraging interest-free savings services to enable them to start saving once in a lifetime.

The President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, Mufti Haji Omar Idris, who was present at the launch, conveyed the message that every Muslim should refrain from performing Hajj.
