Ethio Telecom donates 8100 birr to Ethiopian Electric Power

Addis Ababa: April 26, 2014 (FBC) Ethio Telecom has donated over 122 million birr to the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation for the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

Ethio Telecom, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, has been collecting funds for the construction of the dam through 8100.

He handed over the 122 million 467 thousand 676 birr he collected today to Ethiopian Electric Power.

The money was handed over by Ethio Telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamiru to Asheber Balcha, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power.

During the handover ceremony, 80.3 million birr was collected in the first round and 49.3 million birr was collected from customers in the second round.

He said 122.5 million birr has been collected in the current 8100th round of revenue collection, which is more than the amount collected so far.

He said more than 252 million birr has been collected in the three rounds.

According to Frehiwot, Ethio Telecom has purchased 111 million birr worth of bonds on behalf of the company and its employees.

Director General of the Public Participation Coordinating Council of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Dr. Aregawi Berhe, on his part said Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian descent have supported the purchase and donation of more than 15 billion birr since the construction of the dam began.

According to information obtained from the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, Asheber Balcham thanked the entire community for their support.
