Addis Ababa: Food, medicine and beauty products are under threat

Addis Ababa City Food, Drug and Health Care Administration and Regulatory Authority announced that illegal activities that endanger human life related to food, medicine and beauty products will be carried out in Addis Ababa.
The Authority held an awareness raising forum on food, medicine and beauty care in the capital.
It is said that the forum aims to increase the awareness of the public on the authenticity of the foods, medicines and cosmetics used by the community.
The Authority’s Director General, Tamene Achamo, said there are some traders in Addis Ababa who supply illegal food, medicine and beauty products. He said that they are being monitored.
He said the public should check any items used by them that are out of date and correct.
He also urged the public to protect themselves from drugs, including tobacco, which are harmful to health.
The Director General of the Ethiopian Food, Drug and Control Authority, Heran Gerba, on her part said illegal activities are taking place in the city related to the use of food, medicine and beauty products.
He said the public should raise awareness on the issue to prevent such illegal activities.
He urged the public to report and protect themselves as there is a lot of mixing of foreign foods in the city.
