Amharic, Afaan Oromoo, Somali and Tigrinya languages are being taught for machine learning

Addis Ababa: April 15, 2014 (FBC) The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Center announced that it is working to teach Amharic, Afan Oromo, Somali and Tigrinya languages.

Artificial intelligence is a technology that allows people to work independently with the help of artificial intelligence.

The first workshop and exhibition organized by the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Center in collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology under the theme “Artificial Intelligence for All” is being held in Addis Ababa.

The recently established Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Center’s work in finance, transport, health, language, agriculture and other sectors was presented at the workshop and the exhibition.

Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Abraham Belay said the Artificial Intelligence Center is working to realize the digital economy of Ethiopia.

Although the center has just been established, it is registering encouraging results with various institutions in a short period of time, he said, adding that the Ministry of Innovation and Technology will continue to strengthen its support for the dissemination of technology.

Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Center, Worku Gachena, said work is underway on artificial intelligence to teach Ethiopian languages.

According to the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, it is working to benefit Ethiopia in the socio-economic and political spheres.

The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Center is an institution tasked with leading and supporting artificial intelligence technology in Ethiopia.
