“Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses for the quality of education and the overall development of Ethiopia “a discussion was held

(April 4, 2021) State Minister of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Afework Kasu, in his opening remarks said science, engineering and mathematics (STEM) should be valued and work with national implications.

According to Prof. Afework, some universities in the neighboring towns have developed summer training programs for the students who have excelled in their studies.

He also called on scholars from various fields in the world and the country to meet with students and share their experiences and work to increase the interest of students in various ways.

Dr. Dula Tolera, Director of Science Development at the Ministry, on his part said the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in collaboration with various partners, is establishing STEM centers in universities to increase their knowledge in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

STEM power Executive Director, St. Gebre-Amlak said her company is also working in 12 public high schools focusing on education, innovation, research and job creation.

During the forum, participants from the Ministry of Education, the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences, STEMSynergy, ICog lubs, Gebeya, STEMpower and other partners in the field shared their experiences.

Ikandin, the founder and owner of Ikan Africa, which has acquired intellectual property in 23 of his 36 works, said he has helped STEM Centers provide research and innovation tools and help him develop his skills.

Yededin Kamil, a student who has created job opportunities for himself and other young people, was recognized by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed for his work and received 15 awards from governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as international organizations.

Science administered by higher education institutions; Technology: Engineering and Math (STEM) Centers Teachers and Student Selection and Implementation Guidelines are in the process of being developed and implemented.
