Addis Ababa University donates 1.5 million birr to schools
Addis Ababa University Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has donated 1.5 million birr worth of educational materials to the two schools he attended.
The supported schools are Shasha Elementary School and Agaro High School.
The university donated 30 desktop computers, 13 laptop computers, 200 desks and 75 chairs as well as a car to the Woreda Education Office.
Hygiene modes for female students, as well as sanitary ware, soap and notebooks were provided to schools.
Addis Ababa University President, Prof. Tassew Woldehana said the support will help alleviate the problems of teachers and students and provide quality education.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on his part said the schools were selected because of the high level of education and the Nobel Peace Prize.
President Tassew Woldehana also promised that Addis Ababa University will provide educational opportunities for teachers to improve the quality of education in schools.
Kedir Araya, principal of Beshasha Primary School, said the support will alleviate the school’s problems.
Jimma Zone Chief Administrator, Abdulhakim Mulu, said the support provided by Addis Ababa University to the schools will be a great help in completing the teaching and learning process.
