Ethiopia invites Sudan and Egypt to exchange information before the completion of the second dam

The Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Dr. Sileshi Bekele, has invited Sudan and Egypt to exchange information before the completion of the second dam.

In a letter to the water ministers, he called on the two countries to nominate a representative to exchange information on the dam’s completion.

In his letter, the minister said the invitation was based on an agreement reached by an independent group of experts from the three countries.

He said the construction of the dam and the approaching summer season are important to work together on issues of mutual interest.

He said the appointment of delegates will enable them to exchange accurate information and build confidence in the African Union-brokered negotiations.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the three countries have stated in their letter that the filling of the dam is in accordance with Article A of the MoU reached in January 2015.

Filling of the dam will take place in July and August, and may be extended until September.
