International bidders interested in participating in telecom operator in Ethiopia discussed via video conference

A video conference organized by the Ministry of Finance and the Ethiopian Communication Authority was held today to discuss the selection of two telecom operators in Ethiopia.

The video conference will be held for two days and is intended to answer the questions of interested bidders and provide them with the information they need to participate in the process.

Opening the video conference, the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shede, said efforts to bring international telecom operators into the market will create healthy market competition, better telecom services and expand access to achieve the government’s digital economic goals.

The video conference was attended by officials and experts from the Ministry of Finance, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the National Bank, the Ethiopian Investment Commission and Ethio Telecom.

In addition, the video conference was attended by world-renowned telecom operators. According to information received from the Ministry of Finance, the questions and comments raised by the organizations were provided by relevant officials and experts.
