Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Welega described it as an insatiable area of love and development

On February 14, 2021 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has begun construction of the Dembidolo-Mugi-Dola asphalt concrete road.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen, First Lady Zinash Tayachew, Oromia Regional State Chief Shimeles Abdissa and other officials in Dembidolo.

The road is 50.9 km long and will cost 1.6 billion birr at the expense of the federal government.

The Chinese Railway Sevens Group has been contracted to complete the project in three and a half years.

In a message delivered at the forum, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said Western Ethiopia is a place of love and development.

He said that he knew this, not by word of mouth, but by experience.

He said Welega is a symbol of freedom and existence for the Oromo people and Ethiopia.

He also said that Abdisa Aga, who was born in the area and paid tribute to Ethiopian unity, will be remembered forever.

Rev. Gudin and Tumsa also said that Martin Luther was Ethiopian.

He also recalled that the area was the birthplace of other heroes.

He said Wolega is a freedom fighter, but he has not benefited from the infrastructure crisis and has not played his due role.

He said the projects to be built in the area are intended to connect Welega with neighboring regions and countries.

“We are working hard because the area has been neglected and needs special attention,” he said.

He called on the residents to play their part in accelerating development by maintaining peace and security in the area.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen Welega said the area is indebted to celebrities and the country.

“We will work for the benefit and unity of the people without neglecting the problems of peace and security,” he said.

He said the time is right for change and nation building.

Chief of the Oromia Regional State, Shimeles Abdissa, on his part said efforts are underway to address the people’s long-term development needs.

“In the past, we used to do development work with only one hand, but now we are moving towards development with all our might and with both hands,” he said.

Shimeles Abdissa said the government is putting envious people and their emissaries in line.

He said the government and the people will work together to prevent the aspirations of the perpetrators from being realized.

In the past, the foundation stone was laid by truck, but now we are announcing the hope and development of the people by launching and completing the project that we are going to budget for.
