He announced that Addis Ababa light rail is being forced to provide generator-assisted service!!
The institution has announced that the frequent power outages in Addis Ababa’s light rail service are causing major disruptions in transportation.
The service was partially suspended from 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. today, Mrs. Samrawit Abubakar, Head of the Addis Ababa Light Rail Safety and Security Service Department, told Bisrat Radio.
It has been pointed out that such a problem is being encountered repeatedly today.
When the light rail service starts, it is necessary to ensure that the electric line designed for it has enough power.
He informed that due to the power cut, the trains are being forced to stay overnight without their accommodation station.
In order to solve the problem, the manager said that we are being forced to provide generator-assisted services in some places, and it was pointed out that other solutions are necessary as this option is not sustainable.
“We are trying to solve the problem by taking power from the line going to the community beyond the generator,” Mrs. Samrawit Abubakar added to Bisrat Radio.
They asked the community and the service user to look for other transportation options and wait patiently until the problem is solved permanently.
