“Technology-supported zonal taxi service to be implemented in Addis Ababa” – Addis Ababa Transport Bureau
Addis Ababa Transport Bureau announced that a technology-supported zonal taxi service will be implemented in Addis Ababa.
Addis Ababa Transport Bureau Communication Director, Etsegenet Abebe, told ABC Cyber Media that preparations have been completed for the re-implementation.
She said there is a problem with the implementation of zonal taxi service outside of Tapela.
She said there have been long taxi queues in some areas, adding that the study will focus on what kind of taxi zoning service is needed to fill this gap.
“We have monitored the presence of tax-exempt taxis in the evenings and on weekends,” she said.
According to the director, 74,000 taxi drivers have been fined for loading and unloading.
He said action has been taken against 23 supervisors who have been assigned to oversee the taxi zonal transport service in the past three months.
According to the director, taxis have recently been put on a paper tape dashboard due to the lack of corrugated tape on some lines.
The Addis Ababa Taxi Transport Service, which is said to provide transportation services to more than 2 million people a day, is not convenient for the administration due to its limited manpower, she said.
