Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences has decided on the case of student Binyam Isaias

Addis Ababa: Addis Ababa University has discussed and decided with Binyam Isaias, a 5th year student of the Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences.

University student Isaiah, who was in his fourth year of age, was diagnosed with a natural disability in his left arm and was referred to the dean’s office to have an impact on his medical education.

Addis Ababa University, the college and various stakeholders have been looking into the matter for the past eight months.

According to Dr. Andualem Deneke, Director General of the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, the University and the College of Health Sciences have discussed the issue of Student Biniyam as students, people with disabilities and patients.

He also mentioned that discussions were held with the participation of stakeholders outside the university, adding that technical procedures have been observed in basic medical institutions.

Regarding the standard of care required by a medical professional, student Binyam said it was agreed that it would be difficult for him to learn five of the eight undergraduate courses offered at the university and apply them in the future.

However, he explained that he could continue his studies in other subjects.

In a related decision, he said the university did not identify the problem in time and would take responsibility for the student’s moral damage.

He also said that the university will provide the necessary support to the next student Binyam.
