Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said he will focus on eradicating theft from government structures by using investigative journalism.
The Prime Minister told members of parliament that in order to ensure accountability in Ethiopia, the media would begin to publicize the performance of each contract signed by each government office.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said investigative journalism should be strengthened.
He called on all government officials to make the necessary arrangements.
He said government officials should be transparent and that media investigations should not be disrupted or stopped.
He said those who serve the people and the country should be respected within the government structure, adding that thieves need to be exposed and held accountable.
He also said that the government is working to prevent corruption from the top to the bottom.
