Addis Ababa: July 30, 2014 (FBC) The Ministry of Health has signed agreements with various stakeholders to strengthen the good practice of breastfeeding.
International Breastfeeding Week “Breastfeeding, shared responsibility !!” It is being celebrated nationwide from July 25 to August 1, 2013.
The Ministry of Health has signed an agreement with partners to create opportunities for mothers to breastfeed their children in all circumstances.
According to Dr. Meseret Zelam, Director of Maternal and Child Health at the Ministry of Health, Ethiopian mothers have a long tradition of breastfeeding.
In Ethiopia, 97 percent of mothers raise their children by breastfeeding.
In Ethiopia, more than 3.4 million children are underweight, and 6 More than 6 million children under the age of five are stunted.
Statistics show that more than 1 million children are dying.
Under the terms of the agreement, mothers will be provided with the psychological skills they need to breastfeed before giving birth and better educated.
According to ENA, the agreement also includes support for breastfeeding mothers in difficult circumstances and to help them continue breastfeeding due to malnutrition.
