The House of Federation called on all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibilities to ensure that this years general election is peaceful, democratic and fair.

He also called on citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote and participate in elections.

The Speaker of the House of Federation, Adam Farah, said the participation of all stakeholders is crucial to ensure that the election is peaceful, democratic, fair and credible.

He said the government and rival political parties have a great responsibility in addition to the various activities of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.

He urged the federal and state governments to do their part.

He said the House of Federation, as the custodian of the constitution, has been undertaking various activities to ensure that the election goes in accordance with the constitution.

He said political parties participating in the election should compete for votes by peacefully presenting their views to the public.

He said the party that comes to power after winning the election is expected to fulfill its promises to the people and uphold the rule of law.

The 6th general election will be held nationwide on May 28, 2013 and the Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa city administrations will hold on June 5, 2013.
