Over the past 10 years, 14.89 billion birr has been collected from the public for the Grand Renaissance Dam
The Office of the National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation of the Grand Renaissance Dam announced that it has collected 14.98 billion birr from the public over the past 10 years.
Hailu Abraham, Public Relations and Media Communication Director of the Office, said the bond will be held for 10 consecutive days from March 15 to 25, 2013 e.c.
He said the Development Bank of Ethiopia and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia will hold bond sales week throughout the country on the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone of the dam.
In addition to the financial support, Ethiopians at home and abroad have worked extensively through public diplomacy to make the international community aware that the country is building the dam in a fair and mutually beneficial manner and to reverse third-party intervention and discrimination.
Coach Wobetu Abate called up two defenders to strengthen the national team. The Ethiopian national football team will play against Madagascar in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Wednesday. The match will be played at 10:00 at the Bahir Dar International Stadium. According to information received from the Ethiopian Football Federation, they have been called up.
