The sector’s ten-year plan is designed to improve road transport services and meet the needs of the community
A national consultation forum is being held on the implementation of the road transport sector for the first six months of the 2013 fiscal year and the implementation of the sector’s ten-year plan.
The two-day forum, which will start on December 30, will consult with the Federal Transport Authority, regional and city administration transport bureaus on the road transport sector nationwide over the past six months.
Opening the forum, Director General of the Federal Transport Authority, Abdisa Yadata, said the country has prepared a ten-year plan that will lead to development.
The road transport sector has a significant role to play in this development journey.
He said the plan is designed to ensure the reliability of the road transport sector and to meet the needs of the community. He added that the activities of the Federal Transport Authority, regional and city administration transport bureaus have been identified in the plan.
As this year marks the first year of the implementation of the ten-year strategic plan, the focus has been on developing strategies and strategic directions to achieve the plan.
In addition to reviewing the performance of the six-month road transport sector, these draft documents will be discussed at this forum.
