More than 1 billion birr has been collected for the Grand Renaissance Dam in the last six months
The office of the Public Participation Coordinating Council for the construction of the Grand Renaissance Dam said it has collected over 1 billion birr in the past six months alone.
Office Media Communication Director, Hailu Abraham, said in a statement today that the public support for the construction of the dam has been strengthened.
He said more than one billion birr has been collected for the construction of the dam in the past six months.
He said the amount collected has increased by more than 250 million birr compared to the same period last year.
He said the completion of the first phase of the dam has inspired the community to increase its support.
He said the support is a clear indication of Ethiopians’ commitment to national development and sovereignty.
He said civic associations, artists, vocalists, comedians and other sections of the society are contributing to the construction of the dam.
He called on the public to continue their support for the construction of the dam.
According to the office of the Public Participation Coordinating Council for the construction of the Grand Renaissance Dam, the community has so far donated more than 14 billion birr to the construction of the dam.
