Leaders of international institutions and ambassadors of various countries have stated that Ethiopia’s response to the Marburg virus has shown that it can effectively combat any biological threat.
Ethiopia has been able to eliminate the virus from Ethiopia through its coordinated and urgent response to prevent the Marburg virus.
In this way, Ethiopia was able to prevent a public health emergency and completely eliminate the Marburg virus that broke out in October after months, a recognition and appreciation program was held.
Dr. Zian Kaseya, Director-General of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said on this occasion; Ethiopia has taken strong measures to prevent the Marburg virus disease.
He said that Ethiopia has achieved this result by providing active community services, which shows that it has a strong disease prevention capacity.
He pointed out that the way Ethiopia has become free from the Marburg virus is also a demonstration of strong leadership; He said that it has carried out the right and timely action using artificial intelligence.
He noted that the leadership and determination of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) are admirable and he deserves praise for the success achieved.
He also said that the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been working in collaboration with the Ethiopian Marburg Virus Prevention Task Force.
He said that we have supported the resources to prevent and control the disease.
He said that the center will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Ethiopia; and expressed his appreciation for the Ethiopian disease prevention system.
For his part, the World Health Organization Representative in Ethiopia, Francis Kasolo (Prof.), indicated that Ethiopia’s path to freedom from Marburg virus disease is the result of the cooperation of the government and the community.
He said that at a time when the disease was spreading rapidly around the world, Ethiopia was able to eliminate the virus thanks to its transparent and coordinated disease prevention system.
He said that the collaborative efforts between the government, health institutions and the community in Ethiopia have made a difference in practice.
He also stated that it is the result of timely national cooperation.
According to the US Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ervin Masinga, Ethiopia’s efforts to prevent the Marburg virus disease are commendable.
Recalling that Ethiopia and the US have been working together in various health sectors, including the prevention of the Marburg virus, he said that their cooperation will continue to be strengthened.
The British Ambassador to Ethiopia, Darren Welch, said that Ethiopia’s efforts to prevent the virus will be an example for Africa, EZA reported.
He said that the UK is working with Ethiopia in various sectors and will continue to provide the necessary support in the efforts to prevent the disease.
The Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sem Fabrizi, said that Ethiopia has responded strongly to the Marburg virus disease.
Ambassador Sem said that we have learned a lot from the COVID-19 pandemic and that we must work together to combat emerging epidemics to ensure our common security.
