More than 11.6 billion birr revenue collected in SNNPR

Addis Ababa: The Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Region (SNNPR) said it has collected over 11.6 billion birr revenue.

According to Zeituna Ibrahim, head of the bureau, it is planned to collect 13.1 billion birr in the current budget year.

According to her, efforts have been made to rectify the irregularities in the audit of the taxpayer’s files and legal action has been taken against the employees who have violated the law.

He said although the revenue collection has performed better than the plan, there are some shortcomings in terms of revenue collection capacity.

She said corrective measures have been taken to identify violations of law enforcement and taxpayers’ rights, adding that work is underway to issue false receipts and correct tax evasion.

More than 1,000 counterfeit receipts were found in the state, according to information obtained by the regional government communication, which stated that more than 187 million birr had been traded illegally.

The state plans to collect 15.665 billion birr revenue in the coming fiscal year.
