Ethio-Telecom CEO Frehwot Tamiru on the occasion said the company is undertaking various activities to realize digital Ethiopia.

He said customers of the telecoms and telecoms in the seven cities could easily save their time and money and pay their bills.

Realizing digital Ethiopia is not a short-term process but a process, she said, adding that today’s agreement is part of the effort.
Dr. Shumete Gizaw, Director General of Information Network Security Administration, said the institute is primarily responsible for safeguarding Ethiopia’s digital and cyber sovereignty.



He said the company will work with the relevant institutions to reach out to the citizens by participating in the technological breakthroughs.

He said the realization of digital Ethiopia is the result of the sum of many things, adding that the institution will contribute its share in this regard.
He said the ‘developed’ payment application developed by the institute can enable any payment system in Ethiopia.
He also said that the implementation of Ethio-Telecom Tele-Birr service is playing a key role in creating a new lifestyle for many Ethiopians and expanding digital financial services.
The company has already implemented telecoms with a number of service providers, providing more than 19 million customers in a short period of time.
