The Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Region (SNNPR) Council has convened an emergency meeting on October 30, 2014 to hand over power to the new South West State of Ethiopia.
The five zones and one special woreda of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s Region (SNNPR) held a referendum on September 20, 2014.
The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said 96 percent of the 1,262,679 residents who voted on the day supported the formation of the new state.
It is to be recalled that the Board of Elections approved the result of the referendum in an emergency meeting held on October 20, 2014, according to a letter to the House of Federation.
SNNPR Urgent Meeting It is said that the southwestern state of Ethiopia will be the 11th state.
