Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abebe, said 108 shopping malls and more than 250,000 quintals of agricultural products have been prepared in Addis Ababa.
According to Deputy Mayor, Adanech Abebe, the shops, which have started operating in all sub-cities, will significantly contribute to stabilizing the cost of living in the city, especially by improving the supply of agricultural products, fruits and vegetables such as eggs.
According to the Deputy Mayor, 56 livestock markets and 52 fruit and vegetable shops have been opened in all sub-cities.
He said the malls provide products to the consumer community directly from the farmers’ fields and make them more affordable.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said 18 billion seedlings have been planted so far under the green fingerprint program.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account, the Prime Minister recalled that the green fingerprint program is planned to plant 20 billion seedlings in four years in 2019.
He said a total of 18 billion seedlings have been planted in the last three years of the program, which is more than planned each year.
Preparations are underway to celebrate the New Year 2014 with various programs under the theme “Addis Ababa is a reflection of Ethiopia’s victory”.
Addis Ababa City Administration Communication Office Head, Abdi Tsegaye on the occasion said the city will be celebrated on September 5 with national and city-wide programs.
During the five days of September, events will be organized to highlight Ethiopianness, help the needy, strengthen solidarity and unity, and build and promote the country and our city, he said.
Accordingly, September 1 has been designated as Ethiopian Day, Pagumen 2 as Servant Day, Pugmen 3 as Good Day, Pagumen 4 as Heroic Day and Pugmen 5 as Victory Day.
