One of the Few Surgical Specialists in Our Country, Dr. Andualem Dagne, Has Passed Away

Ethiopia | We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Dr. Andualem Dagne, a General Surgery Specialist and Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Gastrointestinal Tract Specialist, as well as a researcher and lecturer. Dr. Andualem also served as the Director of the Surgical Services Department at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital. At just 37 years old, his untimely death has left us heartbroken. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire university community.

Dr. Andualem was one of the few surgical specialists in our country, a rare and invaluable professional in his field. His life was tragically cut short when he was attacked and killed while returning home from work. Bahir Dar University strongly condemns the violent act that befell our doctor, as well as the recurring acts of violence targeting university staff.

Such heinous acts, regardless of where they occur, are detrimental to both the nation and its people. They bring no benefit and must be universally condemned.

Funeral Arrangements for Dr. Andualem Dagne

Following the sudden accident that claimed the life of Dr. Andualem Dagne, the funeral arrangements are as follows:

1) The body will be transported from his residence today, Sunday, Tir 25, 2017 E.C. (Ethiopian Calendar), at 3:00 AM, to a church for a prayer service.

2) After the prayer service, the funeral procession will proceed to Debenk’e Medhanialem Cemetery today, Sunday, at 5:00 AM.
