World Radio Day is being celebrated in Ethiopia for the third time, journalist Tadesse Muluneh commemorates
In a message on Radio Day, Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority (EMA) Director General Mohamed Idris said that radio education is a major source of information to enhance the social, political and economic consciousness of the people in Ethiopia.
“We need a generation-centered and technologically advanced radio,” said Tadesse Muluneh, a father of Ethiopian entertainment journalists, on the occasion of World Radio Day.
It was invented in the mid-1890s by Italian Guleilmo Marco, and 14 years later, radio was launched in Ethiopia.
Summer irrigation program launched in Lafto Sub-City
Summer irrigation program has started by cultivating 154 hectares of land in Tulu Ejersa Kersa Kontooma area of Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-City Woreda.
Addis Alem Prosperity Party Office Head, Meles Alemu, on the occasion said the irrigation system will not only benefit the farmers but also help them to produce surplus produce for the city’s residents.
Sub-City Chief Executive, Neshanet Daba, said work is underway to ensure that more than 1,000 farmers benefit from the irrigated land in the sub-city.
After the change, the sub-city is working to benefit the developing farmers, she said.
He also visited irrigated vegetables in the sub-city during the budget year and the results of farmers in Woreda 8.
The program was attended by Addis Ababa Prosperity Party Office Head Melese Alemu, Addis Ababa City Administration Farmer and Urban Agriculture Commissioner Bayo Shigute, Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-City Chief Executive, Neshanet Daba, city, sub-city leaders and other stakeholders.
