The church was renovated in 2005. With the renovation, the exterior of the church was made of cement, destroying its historicity, but the walls of the temple and the sanctuary remain intact. The church’s archeology includes parchment books, iron bells, silver drums, Negarit, gold cross and various ancient relics donated by Emperor Fasil, Queen Woldesahla and other emperors. Also among the oldest immovable artifacts in the church are murals, frescoes, furniture, and church buildings built during the Gondar period. One of the things that makes this church special is the fact that the furniture and the crosses on the dome of the church are all made of gold.
