This year’s 8th round of basin development was held in a colorful closing ceremony.
In Dire Dawa Administration, 38 rural kebeles under the motto “Integrated Basin Development for All Our Prosperity” have been working on soil and water conservation works, improved nursery wells, field work, field level maintenance, flood canal recycling, manure transport Speaking at the closing ceremony, Sultan Aliyi, Deputy Mayor of Dire Dawa Administration and Head of the Finance and Economic Development Bureau, said rural development is the basis of urban development, especially in rural areas for drinking water supply and irrigation expansion.
He said the farmers and pastoralists have realized that this work is a matter of survival and has contributed significantly to the success of this year’s basin development work.
At the ceremony, trophies and certificates were presented to the four rural clusters and gold and silver certificates were presented to agricultural development station experts, rural kebele support leaders as well as rural kebeles for their performance. The closing ceremony was attended by senior management of the organization.

Recognition and awards were given to 76 development heroes who participated in the 8th round of “Integrated Basin Development for All Our Prosperity” held in 38 rural kebeles of Dire Dawa Administration.
Ibrahim Yusuf, Head of the Agriculture, Water, Mines and Energy Bureau, said that the conservation and conservation work of 768 hectares of land in 38 rural kebeles has been carried out on 27,303.20.
