Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said various policy reforms have been made to encourage foreign investors to invest in Ethiopia.
The Group of 20 Compact with Africa Initiative was convened online today by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Various African leaders, including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, attended the meeting.
In his speech at the conference, Prime Minister Abe expressed his belief that the Compact with Africa Initiative will make a difference in African countries.
He said Ethiopia has been able to reduce its external debt burden by improving its domestic economy.
According to the Prime Minister, various activities have been carried out to encourage domestic entrepreneurship.
He said foreign investors have invested in Ethiopia and various policy reforms have been made in the sector.
He noted, for example, that the telecom sector has been partially transferred to private investors.
The Prime Minister said economic growth has been achieved by overcoming the current global pandemic pressure.
African leaders attending the summit said the financial support of the Group of 20 member states has made a significant contribution to freeing the African economy from the pressure of pandemic.
The leaders also called for greater cooperation to support the African economy.
Efforts to prevent cholera and vaccination are commendable, the leaders said, praising the initiative and support of the African Union in this regard.
