#Ethiopia The Great Run in Ethiopia for the 23rd round of the race is set to reward the highest number of athlete winners ever.

October 29, 2016 :- The 2016 Sophie Malt Grand Run in Ethiopia International 10 km. A prize of 812,000 birr will be awarded to athletes of both sexes. It is said that the award is more than 30 percent more than last year.

The male and female winners of the competition will be awarded 200,000 Birr, 100,000 Birr and 50,000 Birr for the 2nd and 3rd place respectively. It is known that the prize money for the winners of last year's competition was 150,000.

Among the recent male winners of the competition, Solomon Barega (2010), Hagos Gebrehiwot (2011), Berihu Aregawi (2012) and Abe Gashau are the only male athletes who have won the competition three times. They include Zeinba Ymer (2010), Foyt Tesfaye (2011) and Tsige Gebreselama (2013).

This year's competition is expected to feature strong East African athletes, including three young Ugandan athletes under Global Sports Communication.

Juri van der Velden described this tournament as "we believe it is an important learning ground and motivation for our athletes."

The list of famous athletes competing in this year's competition will be published on Tuesday, November 4, 2016. It will be announced.

In the Great Run in Ethiopia International 10 km. (1994-2016) about the best tournaments:-

• The winners of the first race in 1994 were Haile Gebruslase and Berhane Adere. Last year's Round of 22 winners were Abe Shields and Patience City.

• Only two athletes, Genet Getaneh (in 1997 and 1998) and Wode Ayalew (in 2000 and 2001) have successfully maintained their season.

• All the winners of this competition are Ethiopian athletes. Kenyan athletes finished second in the men's event once and second in the women's event twice.

• Wode Ayalewu and Abe Gashau are the athletes who have won the competition three times. Woode in 2000, 2001 and 2007 and Abe in 2009, 2013 and 2015.

• Men's fastest winning time in 1999 (28:18) by Deriba Merga and women's Lemserf in 2014 (31:17).

The 2016 Sophie Malt Great Ethiopian Run 10 km will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023. 45,000 runners registered for the race.

The tournament is being broadcast live by EBC at 8:18 hrs (men) and 8:23 hrs (women) local time (GMT + 3).
