It was announced that preparations are being made to return the citizens who are in a difficult situation in Saudi Arabia to their country

Addis Ababa,  The National Committee announced that it is preparing to resume the work of repatriating citizens in difficult situations in Saudi Arabia, which was temporarily suspended.

According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the members of the committee visited the temporary shelters of the returnees.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, in his comments regarding the visit, stated that the government is taking practical steps to return citizens who are in difficult situations.

He said that the visit was designed to assess the provision of basic services in the shelters, the possibility of providing training and job opportunities for the returnees, and the condition of the shelters for citizens returning from Saudi Arabia.

He recalled that more than 71,000 citizens in difficult situations in Saudi Arabia were able to return to their country through the coordination of a national committee consisting of 16 stakeholder institutions.

It was also stated that the recent visit to the temporary shelter area in the second round to bring back citizens has yielded valuable resources.

It has been indicated that the work of repatriating citizens, which has been suspended for the time being, will begin in two weeks.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Disaster Risk Management Commission, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Employment and Skills participated in the visit.
