When you look at this, you say a lot of life is hurting us," he said.

Mr. Abdi Gabbisa lives in a rented house in Finland with his wife, two children and his maid.

They are employed in a government company and earn a monthly salary of Qarshii 5,000, he said.

However, they say they are struggling to support their family with Qarshii 8,000 combined with their salary and their wife's monthly salary.

Inflation in Ethiopia has been a challenge for many citizens of the country.

The government's recent price hike on oil products could exacerbate the problem, according to concerns shared by citizens and economists.

Inflation is a problem in many countries.

The past few months of 2022 have been marked by inflation in many countries around the world.

Inflation in the United Kingdom recorded in January (7%) is the highest in 30 years.

Kenyans have also been protesting against the rise in prices of cereal flour, mosee as well as fruits and vegetables.

The National Economic Council of Ethiopia said in a statement a few days ago that inflation is a major challenge.

"Inflation (in April) reached 36.6 per cent compared to April last year. Making matters more difficult is the high price inflation recorded in food products," the council said in a statement.

Mr. Abdi Gabbisa said the price increase of commodities is increasing on a daily and hourly basis.

The government attributes the price increase to domestic and international events.

What solutions can the government take?

There are complaints that the measures taken by the Ethiopian government to address the country's inflation are not satisfactory.

There is a lack of action against traders who cause price increases by storing products and smugglers who cause price increases by going between shopkeepers and traders.

Dr Lata Seera, a lecturer in economics at Jimma University, said the price of a product goes up when the supply of the product in the market decreases and the demand increases.

As Ethiopia is moving towards prosperity it is expected all Ethiopian citizens to contribute to the overall growth of the country.
