The Ministry of Education has directed students in universities to leave the institutions during the 12th grade national examination.

However, students from areas of Tigray, Amara and Oromia where there is war and security problems cannot go to their families and cannot afford to stay outside, the Students' Union of Ethiopian Higher Education Institutions stated.

Michael Yabonesh, president of the union, told Tikvah that the union has submitted a request to the Ministry of Education to arrange a place for the students to sit until the end of the exam.

The Union, together with the Ministry of Education, submitted a request for the students to stay at the centers of the National Disaster and Risk Commission, but the commission stated that they could not.

Therefore, the Union has requested the Ministry of Education to issue guidelines for the students to stay using the TV showrooms of universities and other options.

The president of the union told Tikvah that the union will work to prevent the students from leaving their dormitories during the exam and eating after the exams so that they do not pose a threat to the students.

From September 28 to October 17, 2015, the Ministry of Education has directed that no regular student be found in all university campuses.
