In order to effectively fulfill the mission of the Fire and Disaster Risk Management Commission, the progress of the reform that is being carried out in a manner that is suitable for the development of the city, by applying the technology and operating system that has reached the time, and considering building an updated disaster prevention capacity with other peer cities, was evaluated through field observation.

The General Manager of Addis Ababa, in his capacity as Deputy Mayor, visited today the activities being carried out to modernize the institution in terms of human resources, organization, technology and operations.

He said that the mission of the commission was to prevent natural and man-made disasters from causing serious damage to people and property and to prevent the damage quickly if it occurs.

During the visit, especially the works done in creating a comfortable working environment and making the campus clean and beautiful are encouraging, said Mr. Tulatu Yeine.

In relation to this, Mr. Tolatu Yeine pointed out that there is a need to quickly complete the works in terms of planning and sequence as there is a limitation in the use of time in the reform work, especially in terms of building renovation and design work, technology deployment, staff accommodation and call center.

In order to conduct the reform in a comprehensive manner, research and design work has been accelerated, priority works have been completed as soon as possible, and the reform has been brought down to the nine branches and implemented immediately.
