Addis Ababa and four regions to launch one month security crackdown on road safety

According to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, more than 34 million people have participated in the road safety and insurance fund service that has been carried out nationwide from September to September.

 So far, 55 people have died in 10,000 vehicles in 2010. This number has been reduced to 32.6 in 2013 and this year it is being reduced to 30 this year.

Chief Executive Officer of the service, Jamal Abbas, said the results of the mass mobilization have yielded good results compared to the same period last year, but the number of property damage has increased.

He recalled that the control system had been weakened due to the fact that the security forces were focusing on the operation at the time.

He said the federal government has identified 150 high-risk areas in Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR and Sidama to control the region.

Commander Demeke Kifle ሃላፊ, Head of the Federal Police Traffic Control Department, called on all parties to work together and make the process a success.
