35 million birr and more than 17 thousand square meters of land confiscated in Harari region were returned

Addis Ababa, the Attorney General of the region has announced that 35 million Birr and 17 thousand 500 square meters of land that were seized in Harari Region have been recovered.

Ayub Ahmed, Chief of the Attorney General's Office of Harari Region, said that efforts have been made to identify the problems that cause corruption and the deterioration of good governance in government institutions in the region.

Based on this, he said that he has focused on land-related issues, income and tax, justice, projects and purchase.

They indicated that their investigation was completed in the last financial year and a decision was made on 720 of the 1,374 records submitted to the court.

Ato Ayub told Fana Broadcasting Corporation that the government was able to recover more than 35 million birr that it was about to lose due to corruption.

Similarly, he mentioned that 17 thousand 500 square meters of land that was illegally occupied by individuals should be returned to the government's land bank.

He also explained that he was able to recover more than 22 million birr through negotiations in terms of recovering public resources through lawsuits and negotiations.
