Ambassador Selshi discussed with Ethiopians and American investors living in Los Angeles

Addis Ababa,  Ethiopia's ambassador to the US, Selshi Bekele, discussed with Ethiopians and American investors living in Los Angeles and the surrounding area.

During the discussion, Ambassador Selshi explained to the participants about the wide range of investment options available in Ethiopia and the general economic and political conditions of the country.

The investors pointed out that the government has identified gaps in the past so that the work of the investors who invest in Ethiopia will be smooth.

Among them, he cited the transfer of companies that have been under the government for many years to the private sector, allowing foreign investors to enter and work in sectors such as finance, telecom, energy and the like.

The ambassador said that efforts are being made to replace imported food supply with domestic capacity and to shift it to the foreign market. The results of the integrated wheat production in the last three years are an indication that the plan will be successful.

He also explained that Ethiopia's vast workforce, favorable weather, market average geographic location, wide availability of land, rapidly growing renewable energy and similar infrastructures play a significant role in the success of the investors.

They also stated that the investment made by diaspora people living in the US is more than just investment participation, it is about ensuring the country's prosperity during this challenging period.

The participants raised issues related to supply of foreign currency, current peace and security situation, bureaucracy, government policy plans and related issues.

The investors confirmed that the embassy will coordinate with the relevant institutions from home and provide the necessary support from the beginning until they start working.

The Embassy's information indicates that investors engaged in agriculture development, water and energy, telecom, health, coffee cultivation, logistics, finance, research and other sectors participated in the discussion.
