Private schools that increased tuition in 2014 will not be able to increase in the next school year

***************************

Private schools that increased tuition in the 2014 school year will not be able to increase in the next school year.

Addis Ababa Education and Training Quality Supervision Authority (AQAPA) in consultation with the schools regarding the increase in fees for the 2015 academic year, said that the schools that have increased in 2014 will not be able to make any increase in the 2015 academic year.

However, schools that have not increased for the past two to three years are said to be able to increase according to their proposals and their communication with parents.

Addis Ababa Education and Training Quality Control Authority Deputy General Manager, Fikete Abera, said schools cannot charge fees in any form or fee other than regular service fees.

There are about 2,000 private schools in Addis Ababa, including their branches, which accommodate about 400,000 students.

According to the Addis Ababa City Mayor's Office, this accounts for 43% of the total student enrollment in Addis Ababa.
