Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed hosted an Iftar program for 250 Ethiopians returning from Saudi Arabia.

 

 

The program was attended by people who had traveled to various parts of the country illegally to Saudi Arabia.

 

Recall that the returnees interviewed by ENA during the program were severely tortured in Saudi Arabian prisons; They say the government has rescued them.

 

 

Amina Mustafa, a young woman from the Tigray region, says she went to Saudi Arabia illegally.

 

 

After arriving in Saudi Arabia, she stated that she had been arrested instead of earning as much as she had hoped.

 

 

Amina, a young woman who says the government has returned home after four months of brutal imprisonment, She said she was very happy to be welcomed and cared for in Ethiopia.

 

 

He also said that the Iftar program at the palace doubled her happiness.

 

Similarly, Hadiya Saeed, a native of Woldiya, Amhara region, and Halima Mohammed, who says she went to Saudi Arabia illegally from Dire Dawa, said they had a bad time in Saudi Arabia.

 

 

Young Hadiya Saeed says he has been subjected to unspeakable abuse in prison. She says she was "overjoyed to be born again" and to attend the Iftar program at the palace.

 

 

For her part, young Halima Mohammed: She says that because of the pain I experienced while in prison, I have no hope but death.

 

 

She expressed her happiness over the loss of her life and the return of peace to her homeland. She thanked the government for their care.

 

 

Nurhassen Wedajo and Ibrahim Hassan, who said they had left Saudi Arabia illegally for torture and ill-treatment, said the government was taking good care of them after they returned home.

 

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the care he has given them during the Iftar program at the palace. He called on the government to intensify its efforts to repatriate those in need in Saudi Arabia.

 

 

State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, who participated in the program, recalled that the policy has been reviewed over the past four years, focusing on government-centered diplomacy.

 

He noted that work has been done to rehabilitate a large number of citizens who have been imprisoned in various countries over the past four years. He said repatriation was underway in Saudi Arabia.

 

 

He explained that today's program has a special meaning for the government in respecting its citizens.

 

 

He also said that Saudi Arabia will continue to work to eradicate illegal immigrants, in addition to repatriating detainees.
