Higher Education Relevance and Quality Authority has not properly fulfilled its responsibilities: Standing Committee.

The Standing Committee on Public Expenditure Management and Control of the House of Peoples' Representatives stated that the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Authority has not properly fulfilled its responsibilities and powers.

The Standing Committee discussed the licensing, quality and supervision of private higher education institutions in the 2012 and 2013 fiscal year with the performance of the Authority's officials and stakeholders.

Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Christian Tadele, on his part said the Authority is not fulfilling its responsibilities.

He recalled that the Ministry of Education has been given special attention in the field of education and training.

It was also reported that the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission should investigate and report malpractices within the authority within two months.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the Authority has been asked to submit a report on the performance of the audit to the Standing Committee within two months.
