Senior federal and state officials visit existing industries

Senior federal and state government officials visited high and medium enterprises in Bulga and Debre Berhan city administrations in Amhara State.

 

It is stated that the purpose of the visit is to relate the theoretical situation to the situation on the ground and to exchange experiences.

 

Prosperity Party Vice President Adam Farah, Minister of Mines Engineer Takele Uma, Minister of Industry Melaku Alebel, Minister of Works and Skills Muffriat Kamil, Chief of Amhara State Dr. Yilkal Kefale, Chief of Oromia State Shimeles Abdissa, Afar State Chief Awel Arba, Sidama State Chief Desta Ledamo, SNNPR Chief Ristu Yirdaw, and other senior federal and state officials were present.

 

There are 6,600 industries in Amhara State, according to the head of the state's industry and investment bureau, Andris Abdu.

 

Of these, 3,600 are employed and created 75,000 jobs, he said.

 

He said 70 percent of those employed are small, 20 percent medium and 10 percent large industries.

 

He said many of them did not go to work due to lack of infrastructure and lack of funds, adding that one of the purposes of the visit was to solve these problems.

 

There are 330 existing industries in Debre Berhan town with a total value of 80 billion birr, but only 52 have been operational, said Berhan Gebrehiwot, head of the city administration's industry and investment department.

 

The new industries will create 20,000 jobs, while all existing industries will be fully operational, creating 70,000 jobs.

 

According to information received from the North Shoa Zone Government Communication Affairs Bureau, 50 projects with a registered capital of 16 billion birr have been licensed in the current budget year.
